Vietjet Unveils Vision for the Future of International Travel with New A330neo Fleet Designed to Offer Premium Long-Haul Comfort, Expanded Route Access, and Eco-Conscious Efficiency

Vietjet is redefining its global footprint by finalizing a major deal to purchase twenty Airbus A330neo aircraft. This game-changing agreement signals the airline’s firm step into the long-haul arena, equipping it with the right tools to serve distant markets while prioritizing operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The decision reinforces Vietjet’s strategic direction—shifting from a dominant regional player to a globally connected carrier capable of linking Southeast Asia with key hubs across Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.

A Bold Leap into Long-Range Operations

The newly ordered Airbus A330-900s will allow Vietjet to operate nonstop flights covering vast distances of up to 13,300 kilometers. This opens the door for new direct connections between Vietnam and high-demand destinations such as Frankfurt, London, Paris, Sydney, and Auckland.

This purchase doubles Vietjet’s commitment to the A330neo platform, bringing the total number of widebody orders to forty. These aircraft complement the airline’s current all-Airbus fleet of 115 aircraft, which includes a growing number of A330-300 widebodies already in operation on select long-haul routes.

Raising the Bar for Comfort and In-Flight Experience

Passengers flying on the A330neo can expect more than just extended reach—they’ll enjoy a superior onboard experience designed for comfort and modernity. Airbus’s Airspace cabin redefines widebody travel with mood-sensitive lighting, quiet interiors, advanced airflow systems, larger overhead bins, and expansive seating layouts.

The aircraft is expected to feature an enhanced Business Class cabin, providing full-service amenities, comfortable lie-flat seating, and curated dining that reflects the airline’s Vietnamese roots. Vietjet’s long-haul services will aim to rival legacy carriers by offering premium experiences at competitive pricing.

A Step Toward Greener Skies

What sets the A330neo apart isn’t just its range or capacity—it’s how it supports a cleaner aviation future. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the aircraft burns significantly less fuel than older widebody models and reduces carbon emissions per passenger by up to 25%.

The aircraft is also designed to run on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with current capabilities supporting blends of up to 50%. This aligns perfectly with Vietjet’s broader environmental strategy, which focuses on fleet modernization and lowering the carbon footprint of its operations across all markets.

As global regulations tighten and passenger expectations shift toward greener alternatives, Vietjet is taking proactive steps to lead the sustainability charge among Southeast Asian carriers.

Redrawing the Map with Seamless Global Access

This new fleet will enable Vietjet to scale its network globally and add more frequent services to existing high-traffic routes. By directly linking Vietnam with Europe and Oceania, the airline will support economic growth, boost inbound tourism, and provide more convenient options for diaspora communities.

The A330neo’s long-range capabilities also make it possible to tap into underserved markets that have lacked direct air service—unlocking fresh opportunities and reducing travel times for millions of passengers.

Optimized Operations and Strategic Fleet Planning

Vietjet’s order supports a broader fleet strategy built on simplicity, efficiency, and scalability. With an all-Airbus fleet, the airline benefits from operational commonality, streamlined pilot training, and lower maintenance costs. These efficiencies translate into better fare pricing and more reliable scheduling across the network.

In addition to the forty A330neos, Vietjet holds ninety-six active orders for A320neo Family aircraft, which support domestic and short-haul routes across Asia. Together, these two aircraft types form a powerful fleet combination that balances network depth with economic performance.

A Vote of Confidence in Airbus’s Flagship Widebody

The Airbus A330neo program has gained momentum globally, with more than 1,800 aircraft from the A330 Family ordered by over 130 carriers as of 2025. The aircraft’s appeal lies in its operational versatility, attractive unit economics, and appeal to both full-service and low-cost models.

By joining this group of global operators, Vietjet sends a clear message: it intends to be a long-haul competitor, not just a regional player.

Charting the Airline’s Next Chapter

As international air travel rebounds and passengers seek better service, lower fares, and direct access to more destinations, Vietjet’s investment sets the stage for long-term success. The airline’s modern fleet, sustainability focus, and commitment to passenger comfort position it to compete in both traditional and emerging global markets.

From leisure travelers in search of beach escapes to business passengers needing nonstop access to European capitals, Vietjet’s A330neo fleet promises to deliver better connections and more choice than ever before.
