Air Transat Expands Winter 2025–2026 Network with Weekly Direct Flights from Montréal to Bordeaux and Valencia to Meet Growing Demand for Off-Season European Travel

Air Transat, named the World’s Best Leisure Airline for 2024 by Skytrax, has introduced a significant upgrade to its transatlantic route network for the approaching winter season. In a strategic move to strengthen its European network, the airline will extend service to Bordeaux, France, and Valencia, Spain—two destinations previously served only during the summer months. Beginning February 21, 2026, weekly non-stop Saturday flights will depart from Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to both cities aboard the state-of-the-art Airbus A321LR.

This significant development marks a milestone for Air Transat as it continues to grow its year-round presence in key European markets and respond to increasing demand from Canadian travelers seeking off-season leisure escapes and reconnecting with friends and family abroad.

France Becomes a Stronghold for Air Transat’s Year-Round Strategy

France has always been a cornerstone of Air Transat’s transatlantic network, and the decision to add Bordeaux to its winter schedule underscores this long-term strategic focus. The airline already offers winter service to Lyon, Marseille, and Nantes, and the addition of Bordeaux deepens its footprint in the French market.

Situated in the heart of one of the world’s premier wine regions, Bordeaux is a magnet for oenophiles and cultural travelers alike. Its historic charm, UNESCO-listed architecture, and proximity to the Atlantic coast make it a compelling winter destination for Canadians. Extending the route beyond the summer season opens new opportunities for travelers to explore southern France at a quieter, more authentic pace, all while taking advantage of Air Transat’s direct and convenient service.

By offering flights in the winter, Air Transat is also catering to the visiting friends and relatives (VFR) segment—particularly vital for the sizable French expatriate community in Canada—helping travelers maintain connections year-round.

Valencia Strengthens Spain’s Prominence as a Key Destination in Air Transat’s Expanding Network

Spain has rapidly risen as a top choice for Canadian travelers seeking both culture and warmth in the colder months. With the addition of Valencia to its winter 2025–2026 portfolio, Air Transat is reinforcing its commitment to the Spanish market.

Valencia, known for its futuristic architecture, historic landmarks, vibrant food scene, and Mediterranean coastline, complements the airline’s existing winter routes to Madrid and Malaga. While the inaugural summer flight to Valencia is set for June 20, 2025, its continuation through winter signals strong demand and traveler interest in this growing hotspot.

This move positions Air Transat as one of the few North American carriers offering direct winter service to Valencia, giving travelers more choice, flexibility, and value during the low season.

Enhanced Winter Connectivity from Montréal

All flights to Bordeaux and Valencia will be operated using Air Transat’s fuel-efficient Airbus A321LR aircraft, known for its modern cabin comfort, extended range, and lower environmental footprint. This narrowbody aircraft is ideally suited for medium-haul transatlantic routes, offering passengers a comfortable and direct travel experience.

By operating these flights weekly on Saturdays, Air Transat provides a seamless schedule for both short vacations and extended winter stays, making it easier for travelers to plan around their needs.

This winter extension also strengthens the airline’s overall European strategy by maintaining consistent connectivity from Montréal during a time when many carriers traditionally scale back service. The new routes will integrate into Air Transat’s broader summer 2026 program, which is scheduled to run through October, ensuring uninterrupted access for travelers year-round.

Booking Now Open, Full Program to Follow

Tickets for winter flights to Bordeaux and Valencia are already on sale through Air Transat’s website and official partners. The full winter 2025–2026 schedule, expected to include more destinations and enhanced frequencies, will be unveiled in the coming months.

Air Transat’s ongoing commitment to expanding its European footprint—particularly in culturally vibrant and temperate destinations such as Bordeaux and Valencia—highlights the airline’s dedication to providing Canadian travelers with year-round access to genuine and rewarding travel experiences.

As consumer demand for flexible, off-season travel continues to grow, Air Transat is poised to lead the leisure travel market with thoughtfully expanded routes, modern aircraft, and an unwavering focus on passenger satisfaction.

With the upcoming launch of winter flights to Bordeaux and Valencia, Air Transat is rewriting the rules of seasonal travel. These new routes reflect a dynamic shift toward year-round leisure connectivity, giving travelers even more reasons to explore Europe beyond the traditional summer months. As the airline prepares to roll out its full winter program, one thing is clear—Air Transat is committed to making global travel more accessible, more comfortable, and more unforgettable for Canadian passengers in every season.
